Coldplay will make the first single from their new album available as a free download to fans who visit the English band’s Web site, Yahoo! Music reports.
The single, “Violet Hill,” is the first one off of the band’s new album titled “Viva La Vida.” It will be available on Coldplay’s Web site from 7:15 a.m. EDT Tuesday, one week before it goes on sale at digital retailers.
The single will remain a free download for exactly one week. Free music tracks like this are in MP3 format and are playable on any cell phone, iPod, MP3-compatible car stereo, or other portable music devices, and can also be copied and transferred between all of them without restriction.
