Comcast has long been branching out from just providing cable television by providing services like Internet access and digitial phone service, and they are now selling a home security product. XFINITY Home Security is now available in six markets and has plans to expand the service across the country. The service features web and iPhone apps that provide remote access to many of its features.

XFINITY Home Security provides live video streaming, lighting control, climate control, and the ability to remotely arm and disarm the service, all of which can be accessed from an iPhone or PC via a web browser. You will also be able to set up custom e-mail and text messaging alerts that can notify you when something is happening in your home, and of course the service provides 24/7 monitoring for fire or burglary.

Comcast is selling the Home Security service in two packages, Basic and Preferred. According to Slashgear, the Basic service will cost $39.95 per month, while the pricing of the Preferred service has not available on Comcast’s web site. If you want mobile access you will have to pay for the Preferred service because it is not available in the Basic service. If you are interested in the XFINITY Home Security service you can enter your zip code on Comcast’s web site to check for availability in your area.
