Condomerie ChatrouletteAmsterdam-based condom specialty shop Condomerie has been going guerrilla on Chatroulette with their new marketing campaign, designed to spread awareness about the risks of HIV. The campaign consists of a hot woman, seemingly topless, holding a sign that says, “BINGO. You’re now in touch with a HIV infected person. Don’t play Russian roulette in real life. Condomerie.com.”

The campaign is perfect for Chatroulette, a platform where people engage with complete strangers, many with their pants down. Condomerie suggests that, just like you never know anything about the people you end up with when you click “New Game” on Chatroulette, you may never know if you end up with someone with HIV in real life. The Chatroulette campaign serves as a wake up call letting people know it’s important to be careful, and of course dropping the link to the Condomerie website.

Chatroulette is the perfect channel for guerrilla advertising. As you are paired up with random strangers from around the world you have the opportunity to spread brand awareness. Just be sure to be creative like Condomerie and not too in your face. If you are reported by three people within five minutes you will be blocked for a period of time. However, if you manage to avoid being blocked Chatroulette is a great platform for free advertising!

Have you been paired with an advertiser or marketer on Chatroulette? Do you think Condomerie’s campaign was an effective use of the video chat platform?
