Copia Introduces Subscription-Based Digital Textbook Platform in Australia

eBook platform Copia has introduced a new subscription-based digital textbook platform called LearningField. The platform is part of an industry initiative in Australia led by Copyright Agency.

LearningField lets teachers and students access a library of texts from multiple grade levels from Copia’s interactive classroom environment in exchange for a monthly subscription fee. The program is currently being piloted in a few Australian schools and will be widely available in 2014.

“LearningField is like the ‘Spotify’ for secondary education, allowing teachers to tailor exactly the content they want to the specific needs of their students, as they can select any chapter of any text in the catalogue,” stated Ben Heuston, director of LearningField. “We have achieved the delicate balance of a model that is flexible and affordable for schools, while ushering in exciting, new revenue models for publishers in the digital age.”
