MySpaceLogo2.jpgThe changes atop MySpace have reached the chief technology officer level, as co-founder and CTO Aber Whitcomb is leaving the social-networking site and being replaced by current MySpace Music CTO Alex Maghen, chief operating officer Mike Jones announced.

Prior to MySpace Music, Maghen also held the CTO spot at Yahoo! Entertainment and MTV Networks.

Jones wrote:

As MySpace’s new CTO, Maghen will be responsible for managing the technical operations behind the MySpace platform, as well as the core platform-development and data-hosting infrastructure aspect of technology. Alex will focus on the next phase of MySpace’s evolution, which will further empower our audience of consumers, developers, artists, content creators and advertisers with the tools they need to broadcast, discover and express themselves.

Alex is succeeding Aber Whitcomb, who will be leaving MySpace to pursue other opportunities. As part of MySpace’s founding team, Aber led the development of all technology and infrastructure that enabled MySpace to become one of the largest Websites on the planet. We expect to see incredible things from Aber and wish him the best in his future plans.
