Curious What Happens During an Online Town Hall…at Facebook? Watch Live Today.

What does a U.S. senator have to say about social media?  What really happens at an online town hall?  You can find out today at 3:00 p.m., EDT, live on Facebook.

The town hall’s featured speaker, Sen. John Cornyn, will find out what exactly happens at a town hall right along with you, as today’s event marks his inaugural foray into virtual constituent meetings.

The two-term Republican senator from Texas, who has more than 17,000 followers on his own Facebook page, will stop by Facebook’s new Washington, D.C., office for a discussion on how social media can be used by members of Congress to connect with constituents.

The event will be streamed live here starting at 3 p.m.

The town hall will be broadcast on Facebook Live, the social networking giant’s own video channel. A Facebook representative will moderate the town hall, combining his or her own questions for Sen. Cornyn with those submitted to the event’s online listing.  Virtual attendees can also post their own comments to share on the site.

Up next for Facebook is another live town hall, this time with President Obama at Facebook’s headquarters in Palo Alto, Calif., on April 20.
