Twitter, a You Tube Musical

Twitter, the You Tube  Musical is here! The lyrics are cheesy, but I’m a sucker for Disney style singing, tap dancing, and generally geeky internet videos. It’s also Monday so a little You Tube distraction is a must.

NBC Universal App Marks 50th Anniversary of JFK Assassination

jfk appNBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth has created an iPhone app to commemorate the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination.

The free JFK 50: NBC Remembers app is a great tool to learn a lesson in media history. It includes archival video of NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth/KXAS’s broadcast from November 22, 1963, the day the former president was killed. The local station (which was known as WBAP-TV back then) covered the news as it broke, and stayed on the air for three days of continuous coverage. This is a common practice nowadays, but was an innovative approach at the time for television reporting.

This app also includes an interactive map of the area in Dallas where JFK was shot. It also features interviews with witnesses, police and Gov. John Connally, and video of Jack Ruby shooting Lee Harvey Oswald on live television.
