Dell Streak 5 Android OS 2.2 Update Finally Available. No Gingerbread or Honeycomb?

Take a quick look at this item from the Direct2Dell blog.

Streak 5 Froyo Update for AT&T and Rogers Customers is Here

When do you think it was posted? Fall 2010? Late 2010? Try yesterday less than 24 hours ago. Dell Streak 5 (the un-tablet) owners in the U.S. and Canada (AT&T & Rogers networks) can now upgrade their device to the previous Android OS 2.2 release. The current Android OS smartphone version is 2.3 while most new Android tablets will ship with Android OS 3.0 (Honeycomb) starting with the Motorola Xoom.

My little rant aside, it is good to see Dell providing an upgrade path for their product. There are some Android phones that are still stuck with very old Android OS releases.

The Dell Streak 5 Android mini-tablet is available for $199.99 with a two-year AT&T contract. Its list price is $648.99.
