Delta Airlines has introduced its first ever iPad app. The app, which was designed by digital agency AKQA, features a globe that visitors can spin to explore destinations and fare specials.

Flyers can use the app to book travel, check in, get gate information, manage their Sky Miles account and even purchase in-flight WiFi and priority boarding. The app also helps flyers prepare for upcoming travel by exploring flight maps and even downloading entertainment for the journey.

While in the air, flyers can use the app to explore the ground below the flight by connecting with their social networks through Glass Bottom Jet. Like an airline magazine, the app includes destination guides featuring shopping and dining recommendations.

Delta also worked with AKQA to revamp its existing iPhone app. Customers can now search, compare and book flights right from the iPhone and manage their profile and travel preferences.
