Dick Gregory’s ‘Nigger’ Released As Enhanced eBook

First One Digital Publishing has released an enhanced version of Dick Gregory’s bestselling autobiography Nigger in Apple’s iBookstore. The enhanced version follows the regular eBook version, which came out earlier this month.

The enhanced version of the classic text includes audio recordings of Dick Gregory himself explaining where the shocking title came from. The First One website includes a new introduction from Dick Gregory and the publisher has plans to add videos to the site in coming months including shots of Gregory with Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, and John Lennon.

Gregory had this statement about the book: “It’s important that we know that 50 percent of the people alive today in America were not alive when Martin Luther King was assassinated. The fact that the mainstream press primarily focuses on civil rights issues during black history month gives even more reason why people are hungry for this kind of information. I am excited to see Nigger elevated to this level of publishing in the digital space today because of the relevancy and factual history it contains. It’s an era when the civil rights movement happened and I was an eyewitness to this part of history.”
