If there is any non-tech company that is strongly associated with tech it is Starbucks. It is nearly synonymous with WiFi geek gatherings and freelance solo coding. I’ve often wondered why Starbucks didn’t have an iPhone app the day the iTunes App Store launched way back in the summer of 2008. Starbucks has made up for lost time by introducing two free iPhone apps…
…lets you…
- Locate stores
- Build drinks
- Provides a food menu
- Provides a coffee bean list
- Save information about your favorite Starbucks locations
…is the “other” app and will probably be the favorite for people who constantly carry Starbucks Cards with them. It can even replace the card in select Starbucks stores in Seattle and Silicon Valley. For the rest of us, it is a handy way to track Starbucks Card balances and, they say, view transaction history. I noticed that it takes a long time to register a card into their system even when connected over WiFi. My screen blanked out each time I entered the two cards I tried with the app.
I’m not a frequent Starbucks customer. But, I suspect these two apps are going to be keepers on my iPhone.
Hmm, is the seasonal Starbucks Pumpkin Spice drink available now?
