Discovery Sues Amazon.com Over Kindle

Discovery Communications is suing Amazon.com alleging that the Amazon Kindle infringes on a patent the media company holds.

Discovery holds Patent Number 7,298,851 for an “Electronic Book Security and Copyright Protection System.” Discovery claims that during the 1990′s it was a “significant player in the development of digital content and delivery services.” Discovery Communications founder and chairman John Hendricks‘ work included inventing a secure, encrypted system for the selection, transmission and sale of electronic books.
