Disney.com has just launched a new social networking community site for its members, specifically Parents like us. Disney Family Community provides a customizable online destination where moms and dads can connect and interact with other parents, share common interests including hobbies, age of children, family setup, parenting tips, geographic location and many more.
Disney Family Community tries to be different from the rest of the social networking site by way of its rich and highly informative content coming from its mother site Family.com. It combines the fun of social networking as well as a fruitful experience learning about parenting information.
Here are the things you can do at the Disney Family Community site:
- Create A Profile - the site lets you customize your family’s avatar, choose expression, body type, hair outfits and props, you can also choose a background, profile layout, short statement about you and your family or even post photos of your family
- Find Other Moms and Dads - find other parents who share similar interests by searching their stickers, symbols representing their hobbies, search for parents based on their localities, age of children, or work status
- Join Groups – You can also join parent’s groups withing the Family Community; example of groups include Recipe Swap, Birthday Party Ideas or even a local PTA.
- Profile Stickers – You can further customize your profile by choosing stickers which would best describe who you are and share these stickers with other parents as well. The site currently offers hundreds of stickers or if these are not enough, you can also create your own custom stickers.
- Share-It Widgets - Of course, what good is a social networking site without the web 2.0 widgets. For the Family Community site, you can embed widgets into your site to share valuable information to those who will view your profiles. Some of these widgets include “Kid Sayings”, “Family Photo Journalism”, “What’s for Dinner” and “Shiny, Sparkling Homes.”
Now those features would certainly keep you busy once you create an account at Disney’s Family Community.
