Help Kickstart A Documentary About The YouTube Community

Have you ever wondered what a day in the life of a YouTube Partner is like?  YouTuber Dan Dobi is working on a documentary about the YouTube community called ‘Please Subscribe’ and he has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds so he can finish the documentary before VidCon at the end of June.

Dobi explains the film’s premise on the Kickstarter page:

“Recently, I started making this YouTube Documentary in which I would go out and follow a select group of YouTubers for a full day.  The idea was to share the other side of these people’s lives and show you HOW they make their videos, where they come from, how they got started, blah blah blah.  In a way, it’s like taking you an adventure to SEE how they shoot their videos, and live their lives when the camera turns off.”

The film began as an experiment, which Dobi said he had hoped to turn into a series.  However, as it took off he decided to turn it into a feature documentary.  He writes, “I need a little help on the financial side of things.”  He is raising money to pay for equipment, a crew, and other production-related expenses.  The Kickstarter goal is set at $9,500 which must be pledged by Thursday May 3.  So far he has raised $6,255, so it looks like the goal will be met, and even surpassed.

Dobi has already shot footage of YouTubers like Hannah Hart of My Drunk Kitchen, The Will Of DC, Ed Bassmaster and others.  He hopes to document Freddie W, iJustine, Epic Meal Time, Kassem G, Ryan Higa, Smosh, and other well known YouTubers as well.

Check out the Kickstarter video below, as well as a clip of Ed Bassmaster from the documentary and let us know what you think.  Would you be interested in seeing a feature documentary about the YouTube community?
