I’ve only owned my Motorola Droid for a couple of days now. But, assuming I keep it for another month (I most likely will), it looks like I may see an update soon…
Motorola Droid OTA Update Coming December 11th?
In fact, it looks like there two planned update cycles: Dec. 11, 2009 and Jan. 22, 2010.
But, that information is actually not the most interesting thing about the Phandroid article. I found the information in the published scanned pages of the Verizon Product Technical Bulletin to contain a lot of interesting information about the Droid. For example…
- The Droid has magnetic sensors to work with car holder and desktop cradle accessories
- WiFi access for Visual Voice Mail is not supported
- Yahoo POP3 Email is not supported
- The initial Exchange ActiveSync session can take up to 15 minutes (I can verify this)
- Maximum Exchange ActiveSync attachment download is 10MB
- Exchange ActiveSync email and calendar items cannot be searched
- A call to the same number 3 or more times gets it added into the Favorites contact section and indicated by a gold star
- Exchange ActiveSync folders and sub-folders are shown at the same level (yuck). Target date for a fix is Jan. 22, 2010
- Editing recurring Exchange ActiveSync calendar items with large invite lists can cause a lock-up
- Exchange ActiveSync and Google Mail messages only support picture attachments. No Word or Excel files? Ack!
- If you hear yourself in an echo during a voice conversation, you may need to power cycle the Droid
