Hi ThinkMobile readers - all the great mobile apps, devices and reviews are now a part of mediabistro's SocialTimes.com. Thanks for reading!

jetBook_eBook_Reader.jpgJust when you thought it was safe to proclaim the Amazon Kindle a sales success in the much-maligned eBook product category, ECTACO goes and releases its own model.

The jetBook, the company’s first eBook reader, dispenses with tradition and doesn’t use an e-Ink-style screen. That means that the jetBook’s monochrome reflective screen actually looks bright and crisp, with plenty of contrast, according to Project Gutenberg News.

The report said that the jetBook can search and cross-reference text using bookmarks—an ideal setup for a dictionary—as well as a full library search box that lists every instance of a term found in each book’s content. One big downside: it only supports .txt and .PDF files. That’s great for free libraries, and eBook sells books as .PDF files, but that could be an issue with protected content.
