Could this be the first crack in the four major record labels’ facade? EMI, one of the world’s largest record companies, is considering offloading its distribution, sales and marketing operations to one of its three key rivals, Fortune reports, in an effort to reduce its red ink, music industry sources said on Friday.

EMI’s catalog contains stalwarts such as Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Coldplay, and the Beach Boys. The anonymous sources said that EMI would prefer it if they could outsource all of their distribution, as well as license away their jazz and classical music division. No one is talking on the record, but stay tuned; we’ll call ‘em as we see ‘em.
