Evernote announced the ability to search previously non-searchable PDF files (some PDF files are created searchable to begin with) for premium customers (paying customers)…

New Premium Feature: PDF Search

You can see how it works on a Mac in Evernote’s video embedded above. I took a look at Evernote apps for other platforms (including mobile) to see if there are any differences in PDF searching behavior. Here’s what I found:

- Mac OS X Evernote App: My search results looked similar to the video demo above. The keyword was highlighted against a darkened background of the PDF document page

- Microsoft Windows Evernote App: The PDF document with the search word was displayed. But. the keyword was not highlighted or otherwise indicated on the display

- iPhone Evernote App: The PDF document is displayed on the iPhone but the search word is not highlighted

- Windows Mobile Evernote App: The PDF document is made available for download. A PDF viewer app is needed to view the PDF document

The Apple Mac and iPhone are the clear winners in terms of Evernote PDF search functionality.
