Experian Hitwise Adds Morning Talk Shows to Rankings; NBC’s Today Tops List

Experian Hitwise added a new category to its weekly rankings of television-related Web sites, morning talk shows, and NBC’s Today took the initial crown for the week ending Nov. 27, followed by ABC’s Good Morning America, and CBS’ The Early Show.

The research firm added categories for late-night talk shows and cable news earlier this year.

TBS’ Conan led the late-night talk-show category for the week, followed by two Comedy Central shows: The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and The Colbert Report. As for cable news, Fox News Channel’s The O’Reilly Factor finished first for the week ending Nov. 27, followed by MSNBC Live and MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann.

The top three broadcast-network Web sites were ABC, CBS, and NBC. ABC’s Dancing with the Stars was the top-ranked broadcast-show site, followed by Fox’s Glee, and CBS’ NCIS. Fast risers on the broadcast list were NBC’s Deal or No Deal (to No. 24 from No. 40), and CBS’ How I Met Your Mother (25 from 35).

Comedy Central’s South Park ruled the cable-show list, followed by Oxygen’s Bad Girls Club, and Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta. Fast risers for cable were Bravo’s Top Chef (4 from 26), Travel Channel’s Ghost Adventures (16 from 31), and TBS’ Lopez Tonight (24 from 38).

When combining broadcast and cable, Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants was in first place, as usual, followed by Dancing with the Stars, and South Park. Fast risers were Cartoon Network’s Ben 10: Ultimate Alien (15 from 25), Top Chef (16 from 83), Nick’s The Fairly OddParents (20 from 35), and Lopez Tonight (24 from 38).
