Facebook 3.5 for iPhone Adds People & Places Tagging in Posts. Still No iPad Support

The Facebook for iPhone app was update to version 3.5 this week. It brings a handful of much wanted features and improvements.

Facebook (iTunes App Store)

The new big items are:

- Added the ability to tag friends and places in posts
- Added the ability to share external links from a web view
- Added new design for Profile and Group Walls
- Improved the sharing tool to add privacy controls on posts and match your settings on the web site

You can see the icons for tagging people, adding places, including photos and privacy setting in the screenshot above.

The update also brings a speed improvement to notifications and News Feed filter selection. What this update does not bring, however, is the ability to make use of the iPad’s larger screen. While the app can be used on an iPad, it is still designed and scaled specifically for the iPhone’s smaller display.
