Facebook App Users by Mobile Platform: iPhone #1. Android #2. Where Do the Rest Rank?

Benedict Evans took the known monthly user figures for Facebook’s iPhone and BlackBerry apps and some extrapolated figures for other mobile platforms to provide an interesting look at how many people are using each of the apps.

I took the current iPhone and BlackBerry counts and Evans’ extrapolated figure to produce the bar chart here.

The large installed bases for iPhone and Android carry the two to a #1 and #2 finish with 86M and 76M active app users, respectively. BlackBerry barely beat out feature phone users with 7.6M active Facebook app users compared to 7.5M. Nokia, despite its huge installed base of Symbian smartphones, finished last with 5.6M active Facebook app users.

Note that neither webOS (Palm) nor Windows Phone (Microsoft is included in the figures). Evans reports that the RIM PlayBook tablet has 93,000 active users.
