Facebook turns 10 years old today and to celebrate, the social network is sharing personalized videos of your best engagements on the site. For those who have been longtime users, such as myself, the videos were rather superficial in time – that is, it doesn’t actually go back to ten years of use. Perhaps is this good, since the video allows sharing, and potentially romantic things from previous relationships might be awkward if they suddenly appeared in my profile.
There are also other noteworthy statistics about the history of Facebook, aside from it long history of social tracking:
In a statement about the website’s milestone birthday, Facebook’s founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerburg said, “It’s been an incredible journey so far, and I’m so grateful to be a part of it. It’s been amazing to see how people have used Facebook to build a real community and help each other in so many ways. In the next decade, we have the opportunity and responsibility to connect everyone and to keep serving the community as best we can.”
