Hi ThinkMobile readers - all the great mobile apps, devices and reviews are now a part of mediabistro's SocialTimes.com. Thanks for reading!

Facebook developer Joe Hewitt recently released Facebook Connect for iPhone as an Open Source project. This means that anyone can download, study, modify, or add to the program source code for that project. Joe just started working a new Facebook-related Open Source project that he calls…

The Three20 Project

The name refers to the iPhone’s 320 pixel wide screen. And, the project’s purpose is to release many of the user interface (UI) components of the Facebook for iPhone app as Open Source modules. Here’s a list of those UI modules:

- Photo Viewer
- Message composer
- Web image views
- Internet-aware table view controller
- Better text fields
- HTTP disk cache
- URL-based Navigation

Joe states that he considers the released code to be alpha quality. So be prepared for bugs if you decide to use them in your own projects. And, be prepared to see them change over time.
