Infographic: Facebook Likes Translated Around The World

Facebook has given the word “like” a whole new meaning all over the globe, but have you ever wondered what the Facebook Like button looks like in other parts of the world where English is not the primary language?  From ‘Me gusta’ in Spain to ‘Lik dette’ in Norway, ‘Imenipendeza’ in Kenya and ‘Curtir’ in Brazil, a new infographic from Bigmouthmedia translates the like button across the globe.

The infographic was created to illustrate the power of Facebook’s localization program.  Michael Thomson at Bigmouthmedia writes, “Some would argue that Facebook’s localization program, aimed at localizing the social network in every country’s native tongue is a key milestone to its global success.  I would agree.  With that in mind, have you ever wondered how ‘Like’ translates in non-English speaking countries?  Until today, neither did I…localization is a massive aspect of digital marketing, yet too often localization is taken for granted, just like my naivety around the ‘Like’ buttons translation.”

The infographic, ‘Liking All Over the World’, really awakens us to the awesome fact that Facebook has succeeded in dominating the social media market all over the world through localization and it’s pretty neat to look at.  Not every country is accounted for here, but it’s still a cool visualization.  Check it out below and let us know what you think.  What’s your favorite way to say ‘Like’?
