Ever since Mark Zuckerberg announced the new Facebook Timeline last week at F8, the Facebook community has been abuzz about the new design and its implications. While many of us have been sitting around waiting until our own profiles switch over to the new Facebook timeline, the crew at McCann Erickson in Tel Aviv have already been hard at work creating their first campaign with the new timeline—a Facebook timeline mash-up that brings together all ten members of their team on one (sorta creepy) timeline.
They are calling the project their ‘Facebook Mash-Up Project’ they describe it as follows:
“We created one timeline for a person who is all of us, all of the McCann Digital Tel Aviv Social Crew. The profile picture is a collage of 10 faces. His name, Dan Tisy, is made from the first letters of our names, and his biography is a mix of the history of all ten of us. For example, he is married to our VP’s wife and his son is our art director’s baby boy. The posts in the timeline are taken from 10 different profiles. 10 people, 1 timeline.”

I had the opportunity to ask Danna Blum Sartori, the copywriter that worked on the project, a few questions about Dan Tisy and about the inspiration behind the Facebook Mash-Up Project. She told me, “The new Facebook timeline gives us the chance to write our biography, and even rewrite history, so we thought it was a great opportunity for storytelling. The person that we decided to tell the story of is actually all of us—one person (Dan Tisy) that is a collage of ten friends working together at McCann Tel Aviv.”
So how did Dan get his charming good looks? Dana told me, “We took photos of all the crew members and managed to assemble a face that is created from parts of each of us.” The posts on Dan’s Timeline are also taken from highlights of each of the different crewmembers’ profiles.
We’ve already started seeing a whole slew of fun Facebook Timeline hacks popping up that let Facebookers personalize their timelines in cool ways, but McCann Erickson Tel Aviv has taken things to a whole new level. We’ll surely see many more creative campaigns popping up using the new Facebook Timeline as a canvas and I can’t wait to see what’s coming!
If you already have the new Facebook then you can head over to Dan Tisy’s profile on Facebook to check it out. Otherwise, check out the screenshot below and let us know what you think. What’s your take on the new Facebook Timeline? And what do you think about the McCann Erickson Tel Aviv mash-up?
