These days there are so many ways to share your photos and videos—via email, on Facebook, on photo-sharing sites like Flickr and Picasa—but none are truly ideal for sharing photos privately with your family. Familio aims to solve this problem with a new app for Android, iOS and the web that makes it easy to share family photos and videos in a safe, private environment.
The company elaborates on the problem of photo-sharing in a press release, saying, “Today’s popular social networks make it very difficult to share specific content with only specific people. The content you post is shown to a very small percentage of your friends, and most people don’t know how to use, or don’t bother to use, lists and filters. If you want to post your funny baby photo, you can’t be sure your family will be the ones Facebook displays it to – instead it may go to your colleagues, and baseball buddies. Facebook just isn’t suited to family photo sharing needs.”
With Familio, all your family members have to do is install the app and/or browser extension and they will receive notifications each time a new family photo or video is added to your private family group. Family members can share high res pictures and videos from their phones, email, Facebook, or any other online sources and family members can “love” or comment on shared media.
What’s great about Familio is that it’s “Always On.” It doesn’t require users to login to check for new photos. Rather, it offers a “hands-off experience,” so even the least tech-savvy members of your family will see your photos.
