Fandango Delivers Movie Info to iPhone

Online movie info and ticketing service Fandango has launched a free application for the iPhone and iPod touch. With the Fandango app, movie fans can access film and theater info, watch trailers, view fan ratings and buy tickets for more than 16,000 screens across the US right from their iPhone.

The app takes advantage of the iPhone’s GPS functionality to make it easier to browse local theaters. Other features include the ability to create a favorite theaters list and saving credit card info within the app for faster, secure ticket purchasing.

Fandango is hoping to tempt users to download the app by including an exclusive clip from the upcoming flick Earth. The first movie from the new Disneynature brand, Earth tells the story of three animal families and their journeys across the planet. Narrated by James Earl Jones, Earth appropriately enough opens in theaters on Earth Day (April 22). Until then, non-iPhone users will have to settle for watching the trailer. Check it out below.
