Mobile Marketer reports on a recent speech by FCC Commissioner Deborah Taylor Tate in which she talks up the merits of keeping mobile content within walled gardens.

According to the article, her beliefs on the matter stem from a desire to keep kids safe from unsavory content. “As we enter the age of content delivery over mobile devices, there is a whole new set of questions to address regarding to provide ratings how to block objectionable content and whether the FCC has a role to play in this arena,” Mobile Marketer quotes from Taylor Tate’s speech. “Now that wireless devices are being marketed to children as young as 6, I have encouraged the wireless industry to be part of the solution as well.”

The Mobile Marketer article includes a link to a PDF transcript of Taylor Tate’s speech, which she delivered at the Association of National Advertisers’ Fourth Annual Advertising Law and Business Affairs Conference.
