Government Advises Americans to Create ‘Social Media Wills’ (New York Daily News) If you haven’t thought about what will happen to your Facebook account when you die, the government suggests you get started. Creating a “social media will” is now one of the government’s official personal finance recommendations, listed on USA.gov along with advice on home ownership and money management. USA.gov Like with a traditional will, you’ll need to appoint someone you trust as an online executor. This person will be responsible for closing your email addresses, social media profiles, and blogs after you are deceased. The Atlantic Sounds good, but legally it’s tricky territory. As Naomi Cahn, a professor of law at George Washington University, explained, “Formal wills become public. So you need to be careful what you put in a will, because anyone in the world could have access to it.”

Facebook Comes to Boston for Day Two of IPO Road Show (The Boston Globe) Top executives from Facebook are expected to be in Boston today to preview the company’s initial public offering. In what could be a definitive case in the battle for copyright protection against photo-sharing sites, Perfect 10 has sued Tumblr for failing to remove unauthorized nude images from the blogging site. Previously, the publishers of the pornography site and magazine Perfect 10 sued Google for allowing paywall-protected photographs to turn up in the search engine’s results and lost. Mashable On a more positive note, aiming to help curate the site’s vast array of content, Tumblr has launched a new initiative called Storyboard, billed as “tales from behind the dashboard.” Whether it’s highlighting content from writers and musicians to animators, scientists and comedians, Storyboard will highlight one new story each day and become a hub for in-depth conversations within its community.

Vidpresso Launches Social TV Product (Broadcasting & Cable)
Vidpresso has launched its first product, which offers broadcasts with a simplified, low-cost way of bringing social media posts from Facebook and Twitter using existing computers without adding expensive hardware. The technology is designed to tap into a growing interest in social media and would allow local stations to show social media reaction to local news without investing in expensive additional broadcast equipment.
