Ford has jumped on the web video bandwagon to show off the features of their new Ford Fiesta. The company has launched a new YouTube channel and has been uploading some wild videos illustrating all the cool features of the car. From zombies to puppies, teddy bears and badonkadonk butts, this campaign has it all.
We have been covering a lot of video campaigns by Toyota as of late, including the Sienna Family and their Swagger Wagon and Toyota’s YouTube Small Talk Contest. However, Toyota isn’t the only car company turning to YouTube for promotion. Ford’s new channel offers a variety of clips that will put a smile on your face and make you consider all the cool features of the Fiesta, if you are in the market for a new car or even if you aren’t.
Most of the videos on Ford’s Fiesta channel consist of bizarre contests. To show off the Fiesta’s keyless entry system, which allows drivers to enter their car and start driving with a push of a button, Ford lets loose a zombie. A Ford Fiesta driver, Toyota Yaris driver and Honda Fit driver race to see who can make it into their car without getting eaten alive. Of course, the Fiesta comes out on top.
In another clip, a husband and wife race to get to their kidnapped puppy and show off the Fiesta Voice-Activated Sync feature for GPS. While the wife struggles with her GPS in the Toyota Yaris, the husband easily says the name of his destination and arrives without a hitch.
So far the campaign, which launched about two weeks ago, only has a total of about 457,000 views on six videos. The most popular video pins the Fiesta against a Lamborghini and has just over 190,000 views so far. The zombie clip is the second most-viewed, with just under 160,000 views. It’s only been two weeks, and we expect that as Ford’s campaign gets more coverage the views are likely to skyrocket, although it isn’t likely to get the millions of views Toyota’s Swagger Wagon has been racking in.
What do you think of the Ford Fiesta video campaign? How do you think it compares to what Toyota has been doing?
