FIFA Preps for World Cup with New App

FIFA APPFIFA released an app for iOS and Android just ahead of next week’s the final drawing that will determine who plays who in the 2014 World Cup.

The app features live scores and standings, news, photos and video highlights. It also promises to let fans follow the final draw action live from the app.

The World Cup, a once-every-four-years global soccer, or football, tournament, is the world’s most watched sporting event. The  final game of last World Cup had more than 700 million viewers. For comparison sake, the 2013 Super Bowl earned just over 100 million viewers for the American football showdown.

Thirty-two teams from across the globe will face off in host country Brazil this coming June over a month-long competition until one winner emerges.

The app comes in five languages: English, Spanish, French, German and Portuguese.
