Many readers have been eagerly waiting for Flipboard’s news aggregator reading app to show up on Android and it looks like they’ll have to wait a little longer.
While this app may have shipped Samsung Galaxy SIII, Flipboard has been holding off on releasing the app to the rest of the Android world. I had thought that Flipboard was delaying because Samsung had paid for an exclusive, but it turns out that there is a technical reason.
Engadget has learned that this app is coming soon and that the delay is due to the many different Android devices on the market. Flipboard is quite the polished app on the iPad, and the developers want to offer the same quality on Android. The initial release well be under a beta label (so it will keep expectations in check). Users will have the option of submitting bug reports to help fix the many quirks that are going to appear.
Updaye: Flipboard released the beta app this afternoon. You can get it here.
