G-Food3.jpgFood has been a theme for the past couple of days in the mobile content world. See my blog post “Food Tips Come to Your Mobile Phone” for more. I don’t know about you, but the timing couldn’t be better. The day before Thanksgiving and preceding the holiday season. Today’s announcement comes from MediaFLO USA, and includes the launch of FOOD NETWORK for AT&T Mobile customers. The channel is the first mobile TV channel for Scripps Networks, and lifestyle channel will include programming content from Food Network and HGTV.

From a distribution perspective the fact that it is currently exclusive to AT&T customers is one strike against it from my perspective. I understand that the carriers continue to strive to differentiate based on some exclusive content, however, this is not the prevailing model on other platforms. Seeing that I am an AT&T customer, I will have to see how the content mix (clips, live programming) resonates with me – as I am rabid and loyal fan of Food Network and HGTV programming.
