Former Bon Appétit Editor-in-Chief Barbara Fairchild to Pen Monthly Column for Nomad Editions’ Real Eats

Nomad Editions, a New York-based startup that creates weekly digital publications exclusively for mobile devices including the iPhone and iPad, announced the addition of a big-name editorial talent: former Bon Appétit editor-in-chief Barbara Fairchild.

Fairchild, who helmed Bon Appétit for the past 10 years, along with writing its cookbooks, will write a monthly column for Nomad Editions’ Real Eats, which focuses on the people who grow, harvest, create, and present food. She originally joined Bon Appétit as an editorial assistant in 1978.

Other Real Eats contributors include New York caterer and cookbook author Serena Bass, former Real Simple and Glamour food editor Susie Quick; former Vogue and Travel & Leisure editor Alice Gordon; Tin House executive editor Michelle Wildgen, and Brooklyn cocktail specialist Elisabeth Garber-Paul.

Nomad Editions CEO and former Newsweek president Mark Edmiston said:

We are thrilled to have Barbara Fairchild join our growing editorial roster, which now features the most acclaimed journalists across several categories and special-interest areas. Throughout her career, Barbara has had an indelible impact on the food and culinary space, and we look forward to bringing her insights to our readers on a monthly basis.

Real Eats editor Sean Elder added:

We look forward to utilizing Barbara’s many talents. Her regular column will reflect her many interests and broad experience in the food world. Readers can look forward to personal anecdotes, advice from some of the well-known chefs she is friends with, and even recipes. Barbara’s perspective will ensure added value to the unique and forward-thinking stories we provide each week.

And Nomad Editions editor-in-chief John Benditt said:

It is a privilege to welcome Barbara Fairchild to our ranks. It’s another piece of evidence that the Nomad Editions editorial model is capable of attracting marquee names to offer our readers. We’ll have many more such announcements over the coming year.
