According to a new report from Forrester Research, as reported by Mashable, social-networking sites edged out instant messaging in 2009 as an answer to the question, “Which of the following online activities do you do at least monthly?”
Email use was tops, with 165.4 million adults saying they use it monthly. It was followed by: send or receive photos via email (90.5 million); research products for purchase (83.1 million); purchase products (72.2 million); watch Internet video/streaming video (58.8 million); visit social-networking sites (55.6 million); use instant messaging (54.3 million); listen to Internet radio/streaming audio (45.9 million); use personal portal/content sites (40.4 million); and read blogs (37.1 million).
