foursquare created a Brazil-centric website in response to its accelerating user base in the country, co-founder and CEO Dennis Crowley told GigaOM.

Crowley told GigaOM nearly one-half of foursquare users and usage comes from outside of the United States, mentioning Brazil and Indonesia as markets where the location-based mobile app is taking off and saying of Brazil specifically, “This growth is organic.”

He added that he was amazed by the number of businesses in Brazil that encourage foursquare check-ins.
