Foursquare reached 3 billion check-ins this week, the company announced on Twitter today.

“We’re thankful for all of you who made it happen. Happy Thanksgiving,” the tweet added.

The company will also celebrate Thanksgiving with a partnership with Aflac. For each check-in at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, where Foursquare is based, Aflac will donate $2 to hospitals that do pediatric cancer research.

After Thanksgiving, on Black Friday, Foursquare promises more prosaic benefits for check-ins: It says users will find specials under the increasingly important Explore tab.
