foursquare Lets the Fingers Do the Checking-In in Canada

Checking in to foursquare in Canada will result in more accurate and authentic data following the announcement of a partnership between the location-based mobile app and Yellow Pages Group.

foursquare will incorporate YPG’s public application-program interface into its venue harmonization project, which will add information on 1.5 million Canadian business listings. Developers using the YPG API will also be able to integrate foursquare functionality into their apps.

foursquare director of business development Eric Friedman said:

We not only want to make location integration as easy as possible for developers, but we want to make sure we’re providing accurate and verified information. We’re really pleased that Yellow Pages Group has come on as our Canadian partner in authenticating local business listings.

YPG vice president, digital and print media, acquisition and retention Nicolas Gaudreau added:

Through agreements such as this one, we continue to increase the value proposition of our public API and multiply traffic driven to our advertisers by making sure their businesses appear in major online and social networking destinations.
