Foursquare Rolls Out Cultural Events Content

social media, local search, social networks, foursquare, yelp, facebook, twitterFoursquare today began allowing users to see nearby cultural events, such as author appearances and plays, in addition to nearby business venues.

The content stems from the partnership with urban weekly newspaper publisher Voice Media Group Foursquare announced in January.

As Foursquare positions itself to be a local search engine, it is continually adding more features to its “Explore” tab, which allows users to discover businesses near them.

Foursquare already includes some major events, including concerts and sporting events, in the feature.

“To find great goings-on near you, just open up Explore and tap through to your favorite places. You’ll see things like gallery openings and author appearances,” the company said in a blog post.
