Fox News Joke on 'The Simpsons' Pulled from Web Replays On Hulu, Fox.com

For the second week in a row, “The Simpsons” mocked its corporate cousins at Fox News Channel. This time there is an added wrinkle, however, as the joke in question was apparently cut from the online version of the show on Hulu and Fox.com.

The joke in question is pictured right (courtesy of David Itzkoff), and ran just before the normal opening credits.

Online however, the Fox News gag was replaced by a “King Kong” joke.

As we wrote last week, Fox News has been a favored target of “The Simpsons” since it launched in 1996, and because the animated comedy is such a cash cow for News Corp., it basically has free reign to mock whomever or whatever it pleases.

This time, however, someone apparently didn’t get the joke.

Another possibility: the joke on last night’s episode looks to be tacked on, as the helicopter in question seems to be the exact same one from the previous week. The only thing changed is the background and the text under the Fox News logo.

If it was a very late addition, it was possible that the copy received by the websites did not have the added gag.
