Looks like Verizon and AT&T are in a head-to-head WiFi hotspot shooting match. Verizon announced that they are openning up their Boingo provided WiFi hotspots to their broadband customers. And, we see this (Macworld)…
Barnes & Noble makes Wi-Fi free via AT&T
The article reports that Barnes and Noble patrons can use WiFi provided by AT&T in the stores for free. There’s no fee to pay or account to setup.
This sounds like a win-win for everyone. Consumers get convenient WiFi hotspots in a clean cool environment. AT&T gets some positive publicity for a change, and Barnes & Noble gets warm bodies in their store and a simple way for those people to shop for both physical books as well as ebooks from the new B&N ebook store.
