Trailing behind Twitter in the microblogging niche is Friendfeed, which as of this writing is probably inching closer to dislodge Twitter from its current position. Thanks to its more stable portal which rarely experience downtime. But, we’re expecting Friendfeed to experience or achieved what Twitter had experienced. With all its success and popularity, Twitter has become too noisy and free-for-all. That is what’s about to happen with Friendfeed and which is the reason why NoiseRiver was developed.
Alright, I may have gone too far (or too wordy) in explaining what NoiseRiver is. It’s just a simple application with a simple purpose – to filter Friendfeed and lower down its noise level. How?
NoiseRiver is an experimental service that aims to extend friendFeed with some cool features like ranking on your interests and/or your feelings about other friendfeed’s users. NoiseRiver relies on the hints you provide including the keywords which are interested in and also those which you are not interested with. It’s a filter which makes your Friendfeed subscription more relevant and in tune to your needs.
NoiseRiver is still in alpha stage, but from the looks of it, it has the making of a great Friendfeed application which would definitely change the way you use Friendfeed.
