Despite an expected sharp decline in ringtone revenues over the next few years, overall mobile music revenues will near $14.6 billion by 2013, according to a new report from Juniper Research. This new money will come from a growth in full-track downloads, streamed music services and ringback tones, the market researcher forecasts.
The growth in these other areas is possible now that a number of the key hurdles to mobile music success have gotten much smaller thanks to the iPhone 3G and other advanced smartphones, more available memory and, in some markets, lower data service fees, Juniper found.
