Facebook vice president of engineering Mike Schroepfer shared some interesting statistics from the social-networking site at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco, GigaOM reported.
Schroepfer said Facebook’s 300 million users spend a total of more than 8 billion minutes on the site daily, and at peak usage times, 1.2 million photos are served each second, according to GigaOM.
As for the site’s application-program interface, Schroepfer said Facebook was accessed via its API 5 billion times Tuesday alone, adding that more than 15,000 sites integrated Facebook Connect, GigaOM reported.
And perhaps in a plea for help, he said there are 1.2 million Facebook users per engineer.
