
Funambol has released a new version of its MobileWe open source push e-mail and mobile sync software. The upgrade, version 7.1, adds support for devices using the BlackBerry OS versions 4.5 and 4.6. There’s also a new Symbian client for syncing contact info on Symbian Series 60 3rd Edition handsets from Nokia and Samsung.
Other enhancements to Funambol 7.1 include support for iCalendar and “hundreds of additional enhancements” that are detailed here.
Version 8.0 of the software, which Funambol showed off at Mobile World Congress and plans to release in Q2, features a new AJAX Web portal for syncing PIM content, e-mail and multimedia content between “billions” of mobile phones; a cloud-based portal; Web mail services and desktop applications.
