Over the weekend, Psy’s Gangnam Style galloped past Justin Bieber’s Baby to become the number one most-viewed YouTube video of all time—an amazing feat accomplished in just four months.  But hold on to your invisible horses, because if Psy’s video continues to rack up views at the same rate as it has been, the Korean pop star is on his way to make YouTube history again in mid-December, when his video will be the first to reach a whopping 1 billion views!

Kevin Allocca of YouTube Trends reports that “as of noon on Saturday, the viewcounts stood at 805 million to 803 million.”  Today, as of 9 a.m. ET, Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’ clocks in at 825.5 million, while Justin Bieber’s Baby has 805.3 million.  The chart below puts things in perspective, illustrating that sharp viral spike that took Psy to 800 million views in a third of a year—something that Bieber has been working on for nearly three years, since the video hit YouTube in February of 2010.  Pretty impressive, eh?

If you consider the fact that Gangnam Style has racked up an additional 20 million views since Saturday at noon, that puts the video at about 10 million views per day.  At that rate, it will take about 17 and a half days for Psy to hit the 1 billion mark, somewhere around December 13.  It may happen even sooner, as fans rush to help the video make history.

Give Psy’s video a watch below to help the video make it to 1,000,000,000 (wow, that’s a lotta zeros!) and if you’re not sick of Gangnam style yet (and you shouldn’t be!) then check out our not one, not two, but three lists of Gangnam Style covers and parodies.  Oppa!
