Garageband for iPad Update May Spawn a Cottage Industry

Minor “point” updates (e.g., 1.0.1) are usually used to indicate small bug fixes. Apple, however, doesn’t roll that way. Their first update to the recently released Garageband for the iPad is numbered 1.0.1 but adds a rich set of new features.

Garageband

The new Garageband features are:

- Support for audio output over AirPlay, Bluetooth devices and HDMI with the Apple Digital AV Adapter.
- Import of AIFF, WAV, CAF audio files and Apple Loops (16 bit, 44.1 kHz).
- Allows copy and paste of audio from supported apps into GarageBand.

Apple does not say which “supported apps” allows their audio to be copied and pasted into GarageBand. But, this sounds like something that may be revealed next week at Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco. I would not be surprised to see a cottage industry spring up around apps that provides audio that can be pasted into Garageband.
