Social TV check-in service GetGlue is preparing to take the second screen experience to the next level with the launch of GetGlue HD—a social TV guide designed to help users find smart recommendations for shows, movies and sports. We found out a little bit about GetGlue HD from the GetGlue team. Read on to find out more and to check out a poster representation of what you can expect when the service launches later this summer.
GetGlue public relations manager, Claire Gendel, told us a bit about the new GetGlue via email. For starters, “The new GetGlue comes with a new kind of second screen. In addition to conversations, the GetGlue second screen now features videos, images, tweets, reviews, and all the desired content around people’s favorite shows.”
However, the bigger news about the new GetGlue is the new social guide. “Instead of showing a grid of hundreds of choices, the GetGlue guide is a simple list of shows you already like and watch. The new episodes always bubble up and you an see what your friends are watching right in the guide, and get smart recommendations for shows that are on right now that match your tastes.”
Cory Bergman of Lost Remote reported on GetGlue HD from the Social TV Summit. Alex Iskold, GetGlue CEO, said, “We’re in a unique position to re-imagine discovery around television.” They hope GetGlue HD will accomplish this. He explains, “It’s truly a social guide because we’re able to leverage 500M data points from our community. When you open this guide, you see what’s on for you tonight. When you scroll into the future, you see upcoming shows. Everything you care about is right there in your calendar.”
Gendel shared the following “poster” with me—a sneak peek of what you can expect from GetGlue HD. Check it out and let us know what you think. Would you be interested in using a service like this?
