Gmail iPhone Push Notification App? No Thanks, I Prefer to Preserve My Sanity

I’ve been having some battery issues with my iPhone 3G recently (since the iPhone OS 3.0 release). And, I’m beginning to suspect Push has something to do with it (no proof so far yet though). So, I was interested but not too excited to read this item over in ReadWriteWeb…

…is a 3rd party iPhone app (99 cents) that pushes email notifications from your Google Mail (Gmail) account. But, do you really want your phone buzzing, beeping, or otherwise notifying you of incoming email? If you get a lot of email, this could become annoying very quickly. At this point, I have zero desire for email push notification on my iPhone. I prefer to preserve my battery life and my sanity.
