Google Announces Offline Maps for Android

Ever lose your web connection while trying to use the app to navigate? That’s going to be a thing of the past.

Some time in the near future the Google Maps app for Android is going to get offline support.

Google hasn’t said when this will happen, but as you may know this app does support a similar experimental feature under the Labs menu. That’s limited to only 10 square miles, and I’ve found that it often lacks critical details like location details and traffic. Hopefully the fully enabled option will include these details.
